I have Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my HP Pavillion Laptop and now when I go into the Pictures folder the icons for the folders and pictures don't show up as thumbnails anymore. They just show as blank with the file name below the empty space. It appears that sometimes some thumbnail icons for the pictures load but more often than not they are all blank.

I recently installed some windows updates but have since removed them with no result. I also tried searching Google and wasn't able to find a solution. The pictures are mostly in the Pictures folder.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't use vista, but it sounds like a setting may have been changed.  You probably already checked it, but if not, thats what I'd try to find.

Try right-clicking the folder from the C:\Users\[user]\Pictures folder and go to Properties then Customize.

Choose "Pictures and Videos" as the folder template.

In Windows Explorer, make sure you're vieing as Large Icons in the Views option in the toolbar.

Tried all that without success. I completely ran out of options so I decided to do a restore on it back to the factory settings. It's the wife's computer and she was getting annoyed so I just backed up everything and popped in the recovery disks.

I would have liked to know the cause and how to fix it but it took less time just to reinstall everything.

Thanks anyway Smiley
